ResonanceA Second Chance
From organizers, to supporters, along with employees, and sponsors, there are many who whole-heartedly believe in Resonance and the valuable services that they provide to help mold and shape new beginnings for women, families, and children throughout the state of Oklahoma. To recognize the meaningful existence of this organization they will all come together at the Pearl Fest gala to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the non-profit organization.
Founded by Eleanor Hill, the program focuses on offering individual and group counseling that can last anywhere from nine months to a year, while at the same time giving participants hope which can be hard to find post incarceration, drug addiction, or alcohol abuse. At Resonance they specialize in second chances, which is one thing that Delores Beeler can definitely attest to. As the operations manager for CertiRestore, a sub-component of Resonance; she has been an employee with the organization for four years, but started out as a client. For her, the program changed her life, and to go from being a client to serving as operations manager, Beeler described it as an amazing feeling.
Resonance recognizes the importance of raising awareness and growth, so they are pleased to announce the grand introduction of CertiRestore which is taking place next month from 10am-7pm on August 20th at 4157 S. 88th E. Ave. To punctuate the significance of this occasion even the mayor of Tulsa will be present to help celebrate the event. It is not hard to see that there is a need for a program such as this one considering the fact that Oklahoma incarcerates more women per capita than any other state in the nation. With the trademark phrase restoring the past for the future CertiRestore is a training program designed specifically for women who have been convicted of a felony and it teaches them the trade of restoring used furniture. The 2 year program not only trains participants to use the specialized skill, but equips them with the administrative, sales, and marketing side of the business as well. The women are paid a living wage, and after 90 days they can receive full benefits. According to research conducted by the organization this is the only program of its kind, even though it is harder for women to find work who have been convicted of a felony. However, their concept of each one, teach one supports what Resonance has alluded to for the past three decades, and it is that everyone deserves a chance to learn, grow, and ultimately change.
